As well as his regular Twitter schedule of recommending movies and books and criticising the changes Elon Musk has made to the app, Stephen King also frequently calls out politicians he doesn't agree with.

On Monday, the author reignited a beef with an old nemesis: U.S. Senator for Texas, Ted Cruz.

The whole thing started over the weekend, when Cruz shared a video of himself appearing on Fox News to reiterate his claims about U.S. immigration policy, repeating his consistent branding of migrants crossing the U.S./Mexico border as an "invasion".

"I spend a lot of time at the southern border," he wrote. "I've spent a lot of time with our border patrol agents."

King quote tweeted Cruz, referencing an incident the senator was criticized for back in 2021, when Cruz went on a family vacation to Cancun, Mexico, just days after Texas was hit with extreme winter storms that left millions of residents without heat, electricity, or clean water.

"You’ve also spent a lot of time in Cancun," wrote King. "That’s pretty south, right?"

On Monday, Cruz wrote a quote tweet of his own, describing King as a "Multi-millionaire Leftist" and claiming he "doesn't give a damn" about people on the southern border.

A few hours later, King responded. "You're worth three mil yourself, Teddy," he wrote. "Guess you can go to Cancun pretty much whenever you want. How are your constituents doing?"

Cruz would obviously like to move on from Cancun, but Stephen King — and Twitter as a whole — clearly have other ideas.
